Green Cocoon- Textile Artist.
Born in 1979 in Toronto Canada, first generation Canadian, Julia grew up surrounded by women in her family making beautiful functional works of art. Learning embroidery and other needle work at a young age, Julia was fascinated with the creative process. As a young adult Julia began using plants to dye her own fabrics which she would then sew into various items. Often changing her creative process and the item she creates her art is always rooted in hand dyed, printed eco-friendly fabrics. You can see her passions through the creations she offers up through her textile business Green Cocoon. Gardening turned into garden baskets. Being a yoga teacher and student grew into props used for practice. Julia creates unique, long lasting pieces of art, meant to be used in the everyday, paying homage to the women who past down the knowledge of slow textile art.
